I'm so proud of myself!! My burlap stockings turned out great.I just love using my god given talents.Using my god given talents is on the top of my New Years resolution list.

 step 1-make your own ELF style pattern on poster board or you can download one

step 2-layout your burlap and place pattern on the straight grain

step 3-trace pattern with fabric pencil

step 4 - pin into place and cut out,also cut another stocking out of muslin for the lining.

step 5- machine stitch1/4 inch seam stocking together,also the same for stocking lining.Leave an opening in your lining stocking. 

step 6 -slide the stocking into your lining stocking,lining stocking wrong sides out,right sides together and stitch the top raw edges aligned 1/4 inch.After top edge are stitched,pull your stocking out of the hole left in lining.Turn right sides out.Stuff lining inside stocking.

step 7 -fold down  top part of stocking and press down,hand stitch red thread along the edge

step 8 - add your bells and hemp string for hanging.

DIY burlap stockings

 

 

I really love these burlap Christmas stockings.They would be perfect with my old fashion Christmas theme.My favorite pair are the elf style stockings.I thought about buying them on Etsy,but I can make these on my own.I'm a fashion designer.If I can sew a whole clothing collection,this should be a piece of cake.I hope I can  purchase all my supplies tomorrow.I can't wait to complete this project.I will show you guys my step by step DIY in another blog.
